2004-2005 TIP Teacher of the Year Awards Announced
Teachers’ Insurance Plan™ is pleased to announce the winners of our “Teacher of the Year” programs in California,
Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington. These awards
are given in recognition of teachers who have contributed to the betterment of their schools, students or educational communities.
Teachers’ Insurance Plan™ received submissions about great teachers from parents, students, colleagues and administrators.
It was gratifying to see so many worthy nominees and challenging to try to select the best from amongst so many dedicated teachers.

| The 2004-2005 Teachers of the Year are: |

- California: Robert Rhoads, a second grade teacher at Conejo Valley Unified School in Thousand Oaks.
- Connecticut: Frank Labanca, a tenth grade biology teacher at the Newtown High School in Sandy Hook.
- Delaware: Barbara Bundesen, a second grade teacher at Ursuline Academy Lower School in Wilmington.
- Florida: Fran Squires, a second grade teacher for gifted academics at Pine View School in Osprey.
- Illinois: Kathleen Roper, a seventh and eighth grade teacher at Hoyleton Grade School in Hoyleton.
- Maryland: Becky Taylor, a first grade teacher from Plum Point Elementary School in Huntington.
- Missouri: Dan Heck, a ninth grade math teacher at Washington High School in Washington.
- New York: Polly Sadler, a physical education teacher at Klem North Elementary School in Webster.
- Pennsylvania: Paul Meck, a guidance counselor at Mechanicsburg Middle School in Mechanicsburg.
- Washington: Pierina Austin, a Kindergarten to second grade continuous learning teacher at Margaret Mead Elementary School, in Sammamish.

| Cash awards of $1,000 were given to each state winner, and $500 was awarded to each winner’s school. The national winner also received

Teacher of the Year nominations for the 2010-2011 school year are
being accepted for the following states: Arizona, California,
Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri,
New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Nominations must
be postmarked or electronically submitted no later than midnight on April 30,
2011 to be considered. Please see below for nomination form.
