NEW CAR INSURANCE PLAN OFFERS CALIFORNIA TEACHERS
LOW RATES AND HIGH-VALUE SERVICES

Teachers’ Insurance Plan™, underwritten by Response Insurance Company,
offers services exclusively to people in the education community

Meriden , CT - December 7, 2004 - California teachers, and others who work in California schools, can now be rewarded for their commitment to educating children with an affordable insurance program offered exclusively to active and retired members of the education community. The program, Teachers’ Insurance Plan, is now available throughout the state of California.

Currently operating in 13 states, Teachers’ Insurance Plan offers low auto insurance premiums and additional discounts which could result in members’ saving an average of $440*. The program also offers several services not common among other insurers:

  • Teachers' RoadAssist, which provides discounts and emergency services from more than 30,000 pre-screened, pre-qualified towing and roadside service vendors in the United States and Canada at no additional cost to members.
  • A Scholastic Assistance Program that makes a donation to schools’ designated programs for every educational employee in those schools requesting a free automobile insurance quote, regardless of whether an actual purchase is made. Educators can visit the following URL for more information or to sign up for this program (http://www.teachers.com/ScholasticAssist/SchAsst.aspx).
  • A quarterly “ChalkTalk” newsletter containing articles on education issues, as well as tips on automobile safety and maintenance.
  • Teachers.com, a Web site with downloadable safety booklets and policy forms, plus facilities for making payments and submitting claims online.
“We view educators as above average drivers, and we want to recognize that, as well as their hard work toward furthering our society, by providing affordable insurance and special programs,” said Steve Oakley, Vice President Business Development. “By insuring through one program that solely has the educator in mind, teachers can have peace of mind and the support of a company focused on making their lives a little bit easier.”

In addition to California, Teachers’ Insurance Plan policies are currently available in Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Washington, Missouri, Illinois and Minnesota. Some of these states receive specific program benefits such as a Teacher of the Year award, and a Teacher Agent Network program that pays educators for bringing in colleagues’ quote requests that result in a sale and also for the renewal of those policies.
