NEW SOURCE OF SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING ESTABLISHED
BY TEACHERS’ INSURANCE PLAN
Meriden, CT --- April 29, 2002 | Students in Connecticut have a new source of revenue for their scholarship programs. Teachers’ Insurance Plan, an insurer and educational service provider for current and retired teachers, launched its new scholarship program in the Wallingford school district this month. “This program is a win-win situation for educators and students,” said Steve Oakley, Project Manager of Teachers’ Insurance Plan. “No one has to buy anything. All a teacher has to do is obtain a free rate quote for auto or homeowners insurance and we’ll make a cash donation to the scholarship fund in their area. And, we’ll do it for each and every teacher in a participating school that completes a quote.” In a program tailored specifically for Wallingford, all elementary and secondary schools in the district are participating in the program that began April 22nd and runs through May 22nd. There is no obligation to purchase anything and the rate quotes are free. “This is our way of introducing ourselves to the community and making a contribution to the area’s educational future,” said Mr. Oakley. The donations are being made to the Wallingford Education Association’s scholarship program. Schools, school districts, other educational institutions and teachers’ associations interested in learning more about participating in the Teachers’ Insurance Plan Scholarship Assistance Program can call toll free 1-800-2TEACHERS. _________________________________________________ Teachers’ Insurance Plan is a direct-to-the-consumer program that caters to the specific needs of educators and their families.
